madonna in morocco to celebrate new year
Madonna is ringing in the New
Year in Marrakech, enjoying a festive holiday in Morocco with her family,
according to a report by Yabiladi on December 31.
In a recent Instagram post to
her 20.1 million followers, the pop icon shared snapshots of their Moroccan
getaway. The images featured activities such as wandering through the bustling
souks of the historic Medina, savoring traditional Moroccan tea, and visiting
one of the city’s many elegant riads.
Her 13-year-old twin
daughters, Stella and Estere, appeared in the photos alongside her husband,
former soccer player Akeem Morris. Madonna was seen dressed in luxurious winter
attire, reflecting the chilly December weather across much of the country.
This trip is not her first to
Morocco; she has been a frequent visitor since her lavish 60th birthday
celebration in Marrakech back in 2018. Before arriving in Marrakech, the family
also toured Fez, underscoring the city’s growing appeal among global cultural
icons. Reports indicate they enjoyed a Sufi music performance by Noureddine
Tahri’s troupe and explored the stunning Al Attarine Madrasa, a masterpiece of
Marinid architecture that cements Fez’s reputation as Morocco’s cultural
capital.
Local authorities ensured a
VIP experience for the star, including special arrangements for her private jet
and heightened security measures. Ahmed Sentissi, President of the Regional
Tourism Council of Fez-Meknes, confirmed that these efforts guaranteed a smooth
and incident-free visit.
Madonna’s engagement with the
Arab world extends beyond Morocco. On August 12, 2025, Maghrebi reported that
she urged Pope Leo via Instagram to visit Gaza, calling on him to bring his
“light” to the children there “before it’s too late,” expressing deep concern
over the situation.
